What is the CWF?

The CWF provides a common and uniting picture “language” of 5 steps and 5 shapes with the goal of facilitating Godly growth and positive change. It can be used in a variety of settings, for different people with a range of needs, by a continuum of carers, helpers and professionals.

The CWF was developed from the late 1980s by Dr John Warlow and fellow travellers. John is a Christian Psychiatrist in Australia, with the goal of facilitating Godly growth and positive change.

The CWF provides a common and uniting picture “language” of 5 steps and 5 shapes which provide a:

Direction for change (the where to?) Square
Method of change (the how to?) Triangle
Reason for change (the why change? Cross
Focus for change (changing of what?) Circles
Place for change (the who to change with) Pyramid

Process for change: The 5 steps of

  1. C.onnection
  2. U.nderstanding
  3. R.esponding
  4. E.ngaging other help
  5. evaluation of the above

Who can use the CWF?

Anyone -

  • in a variety of settings, (home, friends, at work/school, in the church, as well as in a counselling or coaching settings).
  • By different people, regardless of age, culture or gender
  • With a range of needs, from struggling or succeeding
  • By a continuum of carers, helpers and professionals around 1 person / marriage / family.

Why use the CWF?

The CWF can help you….

Personally: To help you to change & grow, into what is important and to:

  1. To Live the Great Commandment … which is firstly to “love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength. The second is this, Love your neighbour as yourself.Mark 12: 29 – 31 and the New Commandment Jesus gave us: Jn 13:34
  2. To become a follower of Jesus,
  3. To grow the body of Jesus, the church
  4. To become holy whole, in your
  5. To do the Great Commission. Matt 28: 19,20

As a People Helper With your:

  1. Family and friends

As a Professional Counsellor / Coach The CWF

  • Can be used by most disciplines, personality styles, expertise levels and intervention approaches (based on narrative, social / family / marital, behavioural, cognitive and psychodynamic). The CWF can:
  • Enhances your current approach to counselling/coaching as you place it on the map of the CWF.
  • Improves your connection, understanding and response to your clients / patients, and thus catalyse change.
  • Equips you to pass on your own enhaced approach to others, in your way.
  • Integrates your approach into a Christian perspective, where relevant and appropriate.
